The Madison County Recycling Center

Huntsville has a state of the art recycling and solid waste station. The center is a national prototype and has been visited by other governmental groups to observe its operation. It is located near Mitchusson Park on 173 Madison 6553 near the airport.

Highest Airport

Huntsville is the home of the state's highest airport at an elevation of 1,748 feet. It is paved and lighted with a 3,600-ft runway.
Former Governors

Huntsville has been home to two Governor's of Arkansas, both who lived on the hill east of downtown known as "Governor's Hill: Isaac Murphy, the 8th Governor of Arkansas who served during reconstruction and is connected to the Huntsville Massacre during the Civil War, and Orval E. Faubus, who served as Governor for six terms as is connected to the desegregation days in at Little Rock Central High School.

Musicians

Madison County is the home of legendary rockabilly musician Ronnie Hawkins. Ronald "Ronnie" Hawkins(born 10 January 1935, at Huntsville, was a pioneering rock and roll musician and cousin to fellow rockabilly pioneer Dale Hawkins. Known as "Rompin' Ronnie" Hawkins or "The Hawk," he was a key player in the 1960s rock scene in Toronto and for the next 40 years, performed all over North America, recording more than twenty-five albums. His best-known hits are "Forty Days" and "Mary Lou" both were major hits for him in 1959.

Kings River and Kings River Falls

The King's River in Madison County was the first stream in Arkansas to receive legislative recognition and protection. Also protected is the Sweden Creek Falls Natural Area in the Boston Mountains.

Wildlife Management Areas

Two wildlife management areas are located in the county, Madison County WMA and White Rock WMA.

Natural Beauty

The rugged Ozark National Forest land attracts hikers and campers with its beauty.
Withrow Springs State Park is located four miles north of Huntsville and offers camping, swimming and hiking suitable for the whole family.
