Training Session used by the Chamber's Strategic Planning Committee

Learning How to Plan

In the spring of 2007, the Huntsville Area Chamber of Commerce set about to develop a long and short range plan for the organization. One of the first steps in this process was for the particpants to be trained in the strategic planning method.

The training session was basically broken down into the following steps:
  1. the definition of a stratgic plan;
  2. strategic plan vs. business plan;
  3. Why do a plan?;
  4. Developing a Mission;
  5. What is a Mission Statement;
  6. Developing Objectives;
  7. Frustration with objectives;
  8. Goals for our objectives;
  9. How do we accomplish our goals;
  10. Strategies;
