Demographic Summary of Huntsville

Introduction
Huntsville is the largest town and is the county seat of Madison County. Huntsville is located at 36°5'23" N latitude and 93°44'6" W longitude.
As of the 2,000 U.S. Census, there were 1,931 people, 761 households and 493 families residing in the city. The city has a total area of about 4 square miles.
The estimated population as of July 2006 was 2,358, representing a +22.1% change.
Demographics
There were 853 housing units in Huntsville. The racial makeup of the city was 90% White, 0.1% African American, 2% Native American, and 7% some other race. About
12.8% of the population is Hispanic or Latino.
Of the 761 households, 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples
living together, 15.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% were non-families. 32.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 20%
had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.03.
